Serengeti |
36" x 48" |
This
is the view from the village after people have returned from the fields.
The noises of children and washing and the beginning of cooking fill
the air with an easy din. |
|
Yawn |
36" x 48" |
This
tree is so old that nobody in the village can remember how old. Long
ago the tree decided to yawn and liked it so much that it is all that
it does day and night. (It took me 3 weeks with my nose 4 inches from
the canvas to paint the texture of his bark.) |
|
Hug |
36"
x 48" |
It
is the nature of these two trees to be so attracted that they’d
defy the wind and sun, living only to hug each other. |
|
Three
sisters |
36"
x 48" |
Three
beautiful sisters sit by the window talking. Each one tends to the others,
but is not aware of their own long, gorgeous hair. |
|
Twilight |
36"
x 48" |
Remember
when you were little and you would go to bed before it was dark outside?
Gradually the branches of the trees would begin to blend into the sea
of night. And peace would fill your mind. |

Teacher
and students |
36"
x 48" |
The
teacher imparts her knowledge to her 2 students. Some by osmosis, some
through the physical touching of branches, but mostly through demonstrating
by example. |
|
Jesper
Tree |
48"
x 48" |
Jesper’s
branches have been so gnarled by the winds that rush off the hills at
night that his silhouette is the perfect place for crows to hide from
predators. They eat what is left of Jesper’s fruit, carrying the
seed of his children to be deposited on the ground by the fenceposts
and farmhouses of other lands. Yet its’ something more than symbiosis. |
